For inspiration, Brad and I had listened to some horrible Grateful Dead song. Box of Rain, I believe, and we were amazed at how stupid the lyrics were and how bad the singing was. More specifically, the unbearably off harmonies. So we decided that we needed something that sounded like dirty hippy music, just groovy and rambling. You can practically smell the patchouli.
